INTRODUCTION to COROWA SISTERS of MERCY
In 1987, the Mercy Sisters celebrated the centenary of their apostolic endeavours in Corowa and the surrounding districts. It was a memorable occasion and was duly marked with a short booklet that briefly recorded the many contributions they had made to Corowa, especially to the parish of St Mary’s in the fields of education and visitation of the sick.
The booklet has been scanned for this website and is presented here for your enjoyment and reflection on the extraordinary contribution of these dedicated women over 100 years. In order to read the pages clearly, click on the scanned image to enlarge it. Click on the ‘back’ arrow to return to original size. Sadly, with falling numbers of vocations, the Sisters withdrew from St Mary’s school in 2005 and from the parish in 2011. We salute them all and pray for God’s blessing on those still living and those who have died.
To facilitate the reading of the booklet, the sections and chapters are entered separately. Click on the section or chapter you wish to read.
