Parish Anointing Masses

“If anyone is sick, let him call on the elders of the Church. They shall pray for him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer said in faith will save the sick person; the Lord will raise him up and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven” – St James 5.14-15.

Twice a month there are Masses that include the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The elderly – including anyone sixty years or over – and anyone sick or infirm, is most welcome to receive the Sacrament of Anointing at these Masses. You can receive the sacrament every month, or even twice a month if you wish. We are grateful to our Parish Priest for making this Sacrament available so readily and regularly.

FIRST FRIDAY OF MONTH – Prayer Service at Karinya at 10am

THIRD FRIDAY OF MONTH – Parish church of St Mary’s, at 10 a.m.

The Anointing Masses are on the first Friday of the month and on the third Friday of the month. On the first Friday, the Mass is at Karinya Nursing Home, 125 Guy Street, Corowa at northern end of Guy Street.

On the third Friday of the month, the Anointing Mass is in the church at 10.00am. This Mass is followed by a cuppa and a chance to chat in the presbytery.

Healing and Peace from the Sacrament

The Sacrament of Anointing asks God for His healing and peace. It is no longer considered the “Last Rites” sacrament, but a sacrament of Jesus’ healing touch. All are welcome and anyone with any ailment is welcome… even if your only ‘ailment’ is having turned 60!!
