1st Sunday of Advent 2015
Let the New Year of our praise and prayers to God begin!
Christmas is ‘at the door’ and knocking. – It is Jesus looking to be welcomed, warmed, and made to feel he belongs.
What can you offer Him? Is your door open? On Monday this week the Border Mail newsstand advertising headline was: “Border to open doors to Syrians.” (Sadly inside had virtually no further news on the topic!)
But it strikes a chord: “As long as you did it to the least of these, you did it to Me…” Jesus comes to us in the stranger, the widow, the orphan and the refugee.
Are we ready as a parish, as a town, to put out the ‘Welcome Mat’ to several refugee families? Start the conversation with your neighbour.
Advent Candle 1: THE PROPHETIC CANDLE or CANDLE OF HOPE
We can have hope because God is faithful to his promises (Romans 15.12-13).

WARMLY WRAPPED WITH LOVE
As year’s end approaches a short report from the Charity Wrap with Love Inc. brings us up to date with their great work.
A number of parishioners work as volunteers to put together Wraps for Wrap With Love Inc. They meet regularly between February and November in St Mary’s Hall – free of charge – for which we are grateful.
WHO WE ARE: Wrap With Love Inc. is a voluntary organisation with thousands of contributors from around Australia.
Since 1992, our volunteers involved in the project have given wraps to people in Australia and many countries around the world, dispatching over 30,000 each year for the relief of cold humanity. [i.e. approx. 690,000 so far!]
Wrap with Love Inc. links with national and international bona fide aid agencies to guarantee the delivery of wraps to areas of trauma and need.
Wrap with Love Inc. is a non-denominational, non-racial, non-political registered charity incorporated with the department of Fair Trading NSW.
This year (2015) the group has gathered, put together, labelled, and boxed over 200 rugs which were delivered to Sydney by Canny’s Transport Wangaratta – free of charge – for which we are very grateful. (Carmel Packer).
WRAPS area contacts: Carmel Moroney 02-6033 5381, and Carmel Packer 02-6033 0996.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS
CHRISTMAS RAFFLE TICKET BOOKS available at Mass & at the Presbytery any time.
30th Nov & 7th Dec Mon 9.30am WRAP W LOVE in Hall.
6th Dec ADORATION SUNDAY
Sadly, our parish does not have enough people free (or willing?) to give half an hour or an hour to Our Lord once a month in order to have just 7 hours of exposition.
Consequently, this month Adoration will be reduced: 10am (aft. Mass) until 1.00pm; Benediction will be at 12.45pm.
Come and pray for our parish. Time spent with Jesus is the most productive time of your life.
Because the Holy Father has proclaimed the Holy Year as the “Year of Mercy”, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed during Benediction on each Adoration Sunday in the coming year.
13 Dec Sun. 7.30pm Combined Churches Christmas Carols at St Andrews, Corowa. All welcome! – A beautiful community way to prepare the heart and soul for Christmas with Readings and Carols reflecting on the mystery of Jesus’ birth.
