ALL SAINTS DAY 2015
All whom we have loved in life and who have done their best to live a good life, are ‘with the Lord’ in eternity. We pray today especially to all whom God has received into heaven to claim their everlasting reward.
We pray that they will remember us and ask God to grant us His love and mercy to help us through this ‘valley of tears’ where we are often ‘mourning and weeping’. The grace of faithfulness to the end is our hope and we are helped enormously by the prayers of our beloved relatives and friends who are already with God.
HOLY SOULS MONTH
November is also “All Souls” month and we are praying for all who have died and are still waiting for our prayers and sacrifices to help them claim their reward.
They are greatly helped by our personal prayers, but most especially when we attend Mass for them and offer, with Jesus, His redeeming sacrifice on the Cross.
MASSES AND PRAYERS INVALUABLE!
During November we owe it to our deceased parents, and all relatives and friends to accompany them regularly with our prayers and Masses.
A lady was once amused when Padre Pio said he was offering a Mass for his long-departed mother. She said, ‘But Father your mother is surely already in heaven?’ To which the saint replied: “Yes, but that is because God knew I would one day offer this Mass for her.”
Mysteriously, God relies on our love for our departed loved ones to help them claim heaven. Let’s pray heartily for them:
“May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
