Bulletin 4th October 2015 – 27th Sunday

Prayer for the Synod on the Family

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendour of true love, to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division: may all who have been hurt or scandalised find ready comfort and healing.

Holy family of Nazareth, may the Synod of Bishops make us once more mindful of the sacredness of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, …

Migrants and Refugees – What can we do as a parish, as a town?

 1. Read the Bishops’ Social Justice Statement – free copies handed out today – to be aware of the facts.

2. Read/listen to the asylum seekers’ stories and look into their eyes, and discover they are no longer strangers but our brothers and sisters.

3. Think / envision of how you could help if one or two Syrian families were allocated to Corowa.

4. Do you know of local employment opportunities for the breadwinners?

5. Do you know of affordable housing or presently unused dwellings that can be renovated and made available?

6. Pray often for refugees and asylum seekers, presently 59.5 million – almost 3 times the population of Australia!

7. Join a team to pray, publicize, plan, organize, work together to make it happen in Corowa.

8. Support agencies that assist asylum seekers and refugees.

Rosary Intentions:

That the Synod will be guided by the Holy Spirit; that we will find ways to assist refugees.
