Bishop’s Dinner at St Mary’s

The ‘Bishop’s Dinner’ is an annual event at St Mary’s for all parishioners who wish to greet Bishop Gerard Hanna on the Friday evening before he bestows the Sacrament of Confirmation on the parish candidates.

This year the dinner was on 23rd May and approximately 40 parishioners enjoyed a very delicious, relaxed meal provided by the many talented cooks who have faithfully ‘stepped up to the plate’ (literally) each year.

The Bishop was in fine jovial form and, before blessing the gathering and the food, said how happy he was to return once more to be a guest of St Mary’s hospitality. He moved among the tables and personally greeted all who were present.

Everyone agreed it was a very happy occasion and an attractive informal way in which to meet and chat with our Bishop. We are grateful to Bishop Hanna for giving time to St Mary’s for the Confirmations and for joining the dinner to ‘meet and greet’ parishioners.
