THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

If the Holy Father can confess his sins in public, why can’t I?

Pope Francis went to confession on Friday 28th March in St Peter’s Basilica, leading by example in a Catholic Church initiative to get believers to admit their sins to a priest and do penance before Easter celebrations.

Follow this link for the YouTube video:

The broadcast is 1 hour 45 minutes of a long teaching about Reconciliation / Confession. However, you can slide the slider to 49 minutes 20 seconds and  watch Pope Francis at first led by a priest to where he is to hear confessions, but he decides to go to confession himself first. Inspiring. Thanks Holy Father, you’ve dropped another bombshell on us!

ST MARY’S PENITENTIAL SERVICE

This week we are invited to confess our sins during a Penitential / Reconciliation Service on Wednesday at 7.30pm in St Mary’s. Everyone is invited. Visiting priests will assist Fr Paul, our Parish Priest.

Easter and Christmas are traditional times in the year for going to ‘confession’ to prepare for the Church’s major festivals of Easter and Christmas. Prepare your heart and soul by confessing your sins this week.

With the Holy Father offering us so much good example, why are we afraid to follow? For the love of Jesus who died for us, let’s confess and, with hearts free from sin, enjoy a very happy Easter.
