Mary Monica Hingston nee 1917-2013

Mary Monica Hingston (nee O’Shanassy) was born in Corowa in 1917, but moved when still a child to Melbourne. The account was supplied by George Johnson, son of Mary Monica’s first husband, Bill Johnson.

After receiving this information a search of the parish Baptismal records show a “Mary Monica O’Shanassy” was baptised at St Mary’s Star of the Sea, Corowa on 28th January 1917.

Her godparents were James Naughtin and Maggie Naughtin; the celebrant for the baptism was Fr Patrick Hickey. In 1917, the old St Mary’s church was still in use. The new one was built and blessed by Archbishop Daniel Mannix just four years later.]
